\nDownload the <\/span>Fedora Core 6 CD or DVD image from http:\/\/fedoraproject.org\/wiki\/<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/a>
\nIf your computers hardware is i686 or i686 capable read this<\/a> to to bypass a common bug in the Anaconda installer.
\nSpecify “linux i686<\/span>“\u00c2\u00a0at the installation boot promt.<\/p>\n

Disable IPV6 in the Network Device Screen.
\nIt can be done manually later but is not recommended (http:\/\/fedorasolved.org\/network-solutions\/disable-ipv6\/<\/span><\/a>)<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>In the Software Application screen uncheck “Office and productivity” and check “Customize Now”.
\nAt the next screen check the following:
\nDevelopment -> Development Tools<\/font><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

During the custamization of the system “Disable” the SELinux.
\n
\n2.<\/strong> Change Repository
\nDownload the rpm for FC 6 version (Ex. freshrpms-release-1.1-1.fc.noarch.rpm)
\n<\/span>From http:\/\/ayo.freshrpms.net<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/span>Install the rpm package
\nrpm -Uhv freshrpm-release-1.1-1.fc.noarch.rpm<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>3.<\/span><\/strong> Install prerequirements
\n<\/span>Check your kernel version <\/span>

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>If you want to install a newer version of the <\/span><\/span>kernel<\/span>, make sure that you also install the correct\u00c2\u00a0VERSION and ARCH of <\/span>kernel-devel<\/span> and <\/span>kernel-headers<\/span>.
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Or else the VMware Server config will fail.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Check your kernel version (SMP or single)
\nuname \u00e2\u20ac\u201cr
\n<\/span>
\nThe easiest way to install the prerequirements is to use yum from a terminal session.
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>There can be problems with Anaconda installing the wrong architecture kernel. Get the Kernel Fix<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0here.<\/span>For single CPU and multi CPU (The kernel for single\/multi processor is the same, read this<\/a>)
\nyum install gcc
\nyum install kernel-2.6.18\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>(Optional)<\/span>
\nyum install kernel-devel-2.6.18\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span>(Only if not installed)<\/span>
\nyum install kernel-headers-2.6.18\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>(Optional)<\/span>
\nyum install xinetd
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>4.<\/span><\/strong> Install VMWare Server
\nDownload the latest RPM package for VMware-server
\n<\/span>http:\/\/www.vmware.com\/download\/server\/<\/span><\/a><\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Install the server
\n<\/span>rpm -Uhv VMware-server-<version>.rpm<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>5.<\/span><\/strong> Configuration
\nBefore you proceed, remember to receive a serial number from <\/span>http:\/\/wmware.com\/download\/server<\/span><\/a>.
\nThe serial number is free of charge.
\n<\/span>
\nTo run the configuration, type the following in a terminal:
\n<\/span>cd \/usr\/bin\/
\n.\/vmware-config.pl<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>6.<\/span><\/strong> Setting up the Firewall
\nAfter a successful configuration of the VMware-server, the service is up and running, and now it is time to expose the service configuration interface to the outside world.
\nTo du this, type the following in a terminal session:
\n<\/span>system-config-securitylevel-tui<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em>Now a configurationwindow appears, and by selecting the firewall configuration tool, you add the 904-port to the firewall.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe reason to change runlevel is to save vital resources.<\/span>From a terminal, edit the \/etc\/inittab.
